Let’s take a moment to talk about visualizing success. One of the keys to success is to be able to determine your goal and then visualizing what it looks like in achieving your goal. You need to clearly create a picture in your mind of what your success will look like. Then you need to imprint this picture in your mind so you can pull it up at a moments notice. It will be much easier to physically achieve your goal, if you have already mentally achieved your goal.
Let me give you an example relating to my weight loss. My goal was to lose seventy pounds. At first this seemed a little intimidating, if now overwhelming. But the first thing I did was tell myself that yes, I can achieve this goal. I decided the best way to reach the goal was to set a time goal. I decided a year would be a fair time period, so after a big Thanksgiving dinner in 2015 my journey was set to begin. I then broke my goal into increments. I would lose weight in ten pound increments. I would lose the weight by by limiting carbs and starches in my diet because I found they packed the weight on. I then visualized the scale at my first ten pound loss goal. I started at 240 pounds, so I was seeing 230 pound on the scale in the picture I had painted in my mind.
As I planned my meals, the picture of the scale at 230 pounds would pop in my head and it made it easy to say yes to making healthy, nutritional meal choices. As I debated taking the stairs or using an elevator, a picture would pop in my head of the scale at 230 pounds. Of course the choice was yes to the stairs. You see, when you visualize a vivid picture in your mind it is easy to make to correct decisions required to achieve your goal.
Well, 230 pounds looked great on the scale the day I say it for real. Time for phase two. I next visualized what the scale would look like at 220 pounds and repeated the process. This has been going on for six months. I’ve been able to visualize 210 pounds and then 200 pounds. I can’t describe how excited I was to see 199 pounds on the scale. You guessed it, my current visualization is 190 pounds. It seems as if the goal of losing seventy pounds in a year is within grasp.
My challenge to you is to create a goal. Then paint of picture of the goal in your mind. What does it look like to achieve your goal? How does it feel to achieve your goal? Can you taste your goal in your mind. If so you are on the first step to success. Take it one step at a time and you will achieve your goal in no time at all.
